Allens Lane Art Center

Allens Lane Art Center is looking for creative educators and arts professionals who love sharing their craft and are excited to bring hands-on, joyful learning to students of all ages. 

Since 1953, Allens Lane Art Center has brought the Mt. Airy community together through joyful, transformative experiences in the arts. We're growing our roster of teaching artists and have immediate openings across both our youth and adult programs. 

What We're Looking For 

  • Experience working with youth and/or adults, depending on the role 
  • Hands-on experience in one or more of our program mediums 
  • Reliability, punctuality, and availability that matches a program's full session 
  • For youth roles: patience, enthusiasm, and strong supervision skills 

 

Qualifications & Requirements 

  • Bachelor's degree or higher (or equivalent professional experience) in your subject area 
  • Experience teaching or working in your subject area 
  • Ability to create and share lesson plans and syllabi for courses taught 
  • PA clearances required prior to first day of work (for all teachers working with youth) 

 

We're hiring on a rolling basis for classes starting in September with priority on the classes listed below. 

Youth Programs (Ages 6–8 & 9–12)  

After School Studios - Monday–Friday 4:00–5:30 PM  
September 14–November 9  
Drawing/Mixed Media, Theater, Fiber Arts, Printmaking, Comics, Crafts 
(preference will be given to artists available 2+ days/week)       

Day Off Camps - Friday 9:00 AM–3:30 PM  
September 18 & October 9  
Theater & Ceramics 

Adult Programs 

Full term classes 
Acrylic Painting — Mondays, 6:30–9:30 PM 
September 14–November 9  

One time workshops  
Oct 16, 6:30–9:30 PM — Ceramics (Mugs), Printmaking (Screenprinting) 
Nov 13, 6:30–9:30 PM — Printmaking (Cards) 
Nov 13, 7:00–9:00 PM — Ceramics (Sgraffito)
