WAGE: $16/hour

Position Summary:  Woodmere Art Museum celebrates the art and artists of Philadelphia and serves as a vibrant cultural destination in the historic Chestnut Hill neighborhood. Through exceptional exhibitions, educational programs, public events, and community partnerships, Woodmere connects people with the region's rich artistic legacy while creating meaningful experiences for visitors of all ages.

Every member of our team plays an important role in ensuring a welcoming, safe, and engaging experience for all visitors. The Security & Museum Operations Associate is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the Museum's visitors, staff, collections, and facilities while supporting daily museum operations. This position is primarily dedicated to the security functions, including gallery monitoring, patrols, visitor safety, and emergency response. This is a cross-functional position. While security is the primary responsibility, the Security & Museum Operations Associate is expected to support museum operations as needed – including admissions, event setup, and breakdown, and other visitor services to ensure an exceptional museum experience for our guests.

Security Duties

• Patrol galleries, buildings, and grounds.
• Enforce museum policies and procedures courteously.
• Monitor visitors, artwork, and museum property.
• Respond to emergencies and security incidents.
• Open, secure, and close museum facilities.
• Monitor alarm systems and report safety concerns.
• Assist with emergency evacuations and incident documentation.

Museum Operations Duties (as needed)

• Welcome visitors and support accessibility needs.
• Perform front desk tasks – admissions, membership, provide wayfinding and information about exhibitions and programs.
• Assist with event setup, breakdown, and operational support.
• Maintain the appearance and readiness of public spaces.
• Assist with operational projects and special events as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in security, hospitality, retail, customer service, or another public-facing environment preferred, equivalent combinations of education, training, volunteer experience, and customer service experience will be considered.
• Experience or training in conflict resolution, de-escalation techniques, or crisis response is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and courteously with visitors, staff, volunteers, and vendors.
• Comfortable learning and using technology, including point-of-sale (POS) systems, customer relationship management (CRM) software, and security-related technology.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, holidays, and special events.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, patrol museum buildings and grounds,  and move up to 25 pounds.
• Appreciation for art, museums, and creating exceptional visitor experiences is a plus.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certification is a plus.
