Position Title: Administrative Intern

Compensation: Unpaid

Location: Remote

Time Commitment: 10 - 15 hours per week, with some hours on the weekend

Duration: 3 months, Sept 8, 2026  to Oct 30, 2026 (estimated end date)

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Administrative Intern to support DiasporaDNA’s outreach and fundraising efforts. This internship offers hands-on experience in nonprofit communications, calendar management, and utilizing office software skills. It is an excellent opportunity for students or early-career professionals interested in gaining practical skills in the nonprofit sector while contributing to meaningful social impact.

 

This is a hybrid position, with some work taking place remotely and some requiring in-person attendance at our office. Additionally, the intern will be asked to support weekend events on occasion; advanced notice will always be provided for any weekend commitments.

 

Key Responsibilities

Manage calendars, emails, internal communication logs, arranging team meetings, and setting up virtual or in-person meetings

Conduct basic research to support team leads and managing attendee list for events, RSVPs, and simple outreach communication administrative managers

Track inventories for resources, supplies, and archive-related materials

Assist in database tracking, data entry, and organizing digital or physical files connected to community projects

Help to coordinate logistics for community logistics for community gatherings , public programs , or cultural showcases

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends (with notice)

 

Qualifications

1 - 2 years of experience

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Interest in nonprofit work preserving ancestral knowledge, the communities history, and cultural arts

Familiarity with record-keeping, and attention to detail in regards to managing files and correspondence

Detail-oriented, reliable, and proactive

Comfortable working independently and as part of a team

Experience with data entry, digital scheduling/calendar management, and Google Workspace,(e.g. Microsoft Office or similar) is a plus but not required

 

Compensation

This is an intern role and a great opportunity for anyone interested in learning about the administrative side of nonprofits. This is a hands-on role that allows the intern to learn by doing and sharpen their skills.
