Glen Foerd

Glen Foerd is seeking a Part-Time Event Site Supervisor to serve as the organization’s on-site representative and Owner’s Representative during all catered private events, including weddings. The Event Site Supervisor is not responsible for running events — that responsibility belongs to Glen Foerd’s dedicated caterer — but rather for protecting the historic property and ensuring that the caterer, catering staff, and all third-party vendors comply with Glen Foerd’s policies and procedures throughout each event. Because the Event Site Supervisor is the sole Glen Foerd staff member on-site during evening events, this person must be reliable, self-directed, and comfortable addressing issues directly and professionally.

This position also carries scheduling and supervisory responsibility for Visitor Services Assistants (VSAs) who staff Glen Foerd’s Friday open hours and weekend morning public programs. VSAs are not present during weddings or private events; their oversight is a separate function of this role.

The Event Site Supervisor will report to the Preservation Caretaker.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as Glen Foerd’s owner’s representative on-site, with authority to enforce all property rules and regulations.
  • Monitors the caterer, catering staff, and third-party vendors to ensure compliance with Glen Foerd’s policies, including restrictions on noise levels and use of spaces, and provides security for the art collection and historic contents.
  • Circulates through the mansion and grounds throughout the event to identify and address any policy violations and prevent any potentially hazardous situations.
  • Initiates emergency response procedures if necessary.
  • Ensures the mansion is clean, secure, and properly locked at the conclusion of each event.
  • Completes post-event reports, documenting the condition of the property and any incidents or concerns.
  • Fields phone calls during events and communicates with Glen Foerd leadership as needed.
  • Develops and maintains schedules for Visitor Services Assistants covering weekend open hours and public programs, and serves as their primary point of contact during shifts.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Employment Type

Seasonal, part-time, non-exempt. Weekly hours typically range from 20–28 hours, generally from 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM (end time may vary depending on event clean-up) on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, April through November. The candidate must be available for all weekend evening events, plus approximately 4 hours on Mondays for post-event reporting, and several daytime hours weekly for VSA scheduling and open hours oversight. Additional weekday and winter hours may arise.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; some college preferred.
  • Experience in events, hospitality, property management, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • Self-confident and comfortable enforcing rules and addressing issues directly with vendors and staff.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly regarding property condition and security.
  • Reliable and capable of working independently without on-site supervision.
  • Ability to climb stairs regularly and stand for the duration of a shift.
  • General knowledge of or interest in art, history, architecture, or historic preservation is a plus.
  • A car is required; public transportation is limited late at night.
