P/R Coordinator and Special Projects Administrator

Description: The American Helicopter Museum & Education Center seeks reliable and friendly Visitor Service Associate to engage, educate, and inform guests in our Museum gallery and through public programs and exhibits. The Associate provides exceptional customer service to our guests, ensuring their satisfaction, loyalty, and repeat business. In addition, is responsible for communicating information about our programs to the general program through press releases, social media posts, and website updates.

Compensation: $45,000/year

Schedule: Negotiable (Weekends required)

Responsibilities:

Actively greet the public and provide a warm welcome and orientation to the museum and its spaces

Assist all members, groups, and visitors of the museum with their ticketing needs, including general admission, tours, and special events

Promote museum programs and sell memberships

Proactively engage guests through exhibit content in a friendly, accessible manner. Process cash and charge transactions utilizing the POS system and cash register; bag or package purchases; provide change and receipts

Assisting with weekend programs (birthday parties, special events, workshops, etc.) as needed

Monitoring and light cleaning of the gallery

Professionally and courteously resolve customer complaints, de-escalating the situation and seeking solutions that meet the guest’s needs while abiding by Museum Store Policies

Assist with the development, installation, and removal of exhibits/artifacts as required

Write and disseminate press releases; maintain press list and contacts; add events to community calendars; document via images and video the daily happenings, events and etc. for future press use and archives; create promotional videos for in house and YouTube; create flyers, ads, and other promotional materials, social media

Keep website as current as possible; honor all requests for updates as quickly as possible, etc.

Supervise/train gift shop employees and interns

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Experience: Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years in the retail field or customer service positions in a museum setting.

Knowledge/Skills:

Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.

Good working knowledge of POS systems and the ability to accurately handle cash and sales transactions.

Exceptional sales skills and ability to work toward sales goals while maintaining a welcoming environment for guests.

Ability to work well with a team, as well as independently and with minimal direction during non-peak sales hours when staffing may be minimal.

Ability to multi-task and assist multiple customers at a time.

Awareness of security risks and thefts and how to handle or prevent such situations.

Knowledge of Wix, Canva, Adobe, and other computer software

 

Essential Functions:

Ability to safely handle small, delicate objects

Ability to stand for 8 hours at a time

Ability to maneuver in tight spaces, such as storage rooms
